Meet the winter runner’s best friend!

The Icehero 2 is the more agile and even more responsive winter running shoe in our catalogue and is aimed for those who want to take their winter runs to the next level, but it is also well suited for the more casual runners.

The IceHero 2 is our first winter running shoe that features our new SuperFOAMance midsole, which is made of hi-tech and ultralight nitrogen infused material that offers extreme cushioning and energy return. This new foam is a modern, supercritical foam that is lighter, more responsive, more comfortable and more propulsive than a traditional EVA foam. Compared to other foams, SuperFOAMance is more durable and does not rip as easily.

The midsole is finished with a rock plate that protects the runner’s feet from sharp edges and pertruding branches. The rock plate also makes the shoe torsionally more rigid and increases energy efficiency.

The Superior Contact -outsole features 17 carbon steel, star-shaped metal studs that provide superior grip on slippery conditions.

The water-resistant upper is light, breathable and durable one-piece upper. The last is shaped like a foot, which together with the upper offers maximal comfort and performance.

If you’re familiar with our trail running shoes, the IceHero 2 is basically the MAXx2, but with starstuds!

Returns

Innovative system designed to improve the fit of the shoe, making it feel like part of your body. Integrated with the lacing, the Fitlock system tightens the shoe on the inside and under the arch of your foot.

Phenomenal grip for winter running

A combination of a Superior Contact rubber and 17 carbon steel star studs ensure a maximum grip on any surface. Inspired by the car industry, we manufacture our star shaped metal studs from carbon steel to provide a superior grip. Compared to commonly used round shaped studs the star shaped studs provides better grip on the ground thanks to the increased number of corners.

Vauhdikas ja monipuolinen nastakenkä

Ihan ensimmäisenä, Icehero2 on nastoitusta lukuunottamatta sama kenkä kuin MaxX2, joten se on luonteva valinta talvijuoksuun, jos Maxx2 on jo tuttu. Koko vaikuttaa samalta kuin Maxx2:ssa (eli yleisesti ottaen valitse yhtä kokoa pienempi kuin normaali lenkkarin koko), mutta tähän tietty vaikuttaa myös jalan muoto. Koska olen tykännyt ACE:stä, niin vertailen tässä myös näiden kenkiä hieman keskenään.

Icehero2 on hyvin vaimennettu, sopivasti kiertolöysä, kevyt ja mukava yleiskenkä. Lesti ei ole yhtä leveä kuin ACEssa, mutta leveämpi kuin vanhemmissa Sarvan nastalenkkareissa. Se istuu napakasti ainakin minun jalkaan. Ei ole yhtä lämmin kenkä kuin ACE, joten sen puolesta saattaa vaatia paksumpaa sukkaa, mutta toisaalta tää toimii myös kesäisillä poluilla, jos nastoitukselle on tarvetta (tai vaikkei oliskaan). Eli jos nastalenkkari on harkinnassa, niin tätä voi hyödyntää hyvin myös kesäjuoksenteluissa, toki en itse nastoilla halua juosta esim kallioilla, ellei sitten ole vaikka kisatilanteeseen tarvetta. Pito on tosi hyvä, väittäisin, että paras tähänastisista VJ:n nastalenkkareista. ACE:een verrattuna nää toimii paremmin erityisesti lumella, jäiseen alustaan on vähän huono verrata, kun ACEsta on jo 500km jälkeen nastat vähän tylsyneet. Mutta siis peilijäälläkin voi juosta pientä ympyrää, jos on tarve :) Vaimennusta ja rullaavuutta on vähemmän kuin ACEssa, mutta kyllä näillä kovallakin alustalla juoksee pitkiäkin lenkkejä. Pelkkään asvalttijuoksenteluun suosittelisin kuitenkin ACEa, jos se vaan muuten osuu hyvin jalkaan ja tarpeeseen. Mutta sekin toki makuasia.

Kestävyyden osalta uskaltaisin odottaa vähintään tuhatta kilsaa, nastat toki saattaa vaatia teroituksen välissä. Maxx2:lla olen juossut ehkä 500km ja tällä Icehero2:lla n. 200km, kummatkin ovan ihan moitteettomassa kunnossa edelleen.

Mulla näiden käyttökohde on liukkaan alustan juoksukisat, myös keväällä/syksyllä (esim Vaarojen maraton) ja treeneissä talvipolut, kun pitoa tarvitaan reilummin.

Wide toe box and excellent grip

This winter running shoe is the most comfortable I ever had, thanks to the wide toe box and foot-shaped design with generous sizing. There is nicely room for even thick woollen socks, which are necessary in colder weather. The studs grip extremely well on ice. I haven't tried it in wet conditions (sleet!) yet, but the rubbery top covering looks promising in terms of staying dry.
